ESPR-SPR
Statement re Ukraine
The European Society of Paediatric Radiology (ESPR) and the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR) jointly condemn the military invasion of Ukraine and the violation of international law. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the Russian people protesting the invasion. The leadership of the ESPR and SPR has grave concerns about the horrifying conditions that continue to worsen in Ukraine and its effect on the health of the people of Ukraine. The invasion and the developing refugee crisis will have a disastrous impact on the health and well-being of the innocent Ukrainian children. We want to make our members aware of ways to donate to one of the many international relief agencies mobilizing aid to address the looming humanitarian crisis. The U.S. Ukraine Foundation (How Can I Help at www.usukraine.org) lists many recommended charitable organizations, including United Help Ukraine, the Ukrainian branch of The Red Cross, the International Medical Corps, UN Refugee Agency, and Voices of Children. Our thoughts are wholeheartedly with the Ukrainian people but especially the innocent children, injured, displaced, and traumatized by this unjustified war. We urge the Russian government to cease their attack on the sovereign and democratic state of Ukraine immediately and to seek a rapid and peaceful resolution of this conflict.
